CBAT System Logic Test (SLT): What to Expect & How to Prepare

The CBAT System Logic Test (SLT) assesses your ability to solve system-based logic problems by pulling the right numerical and written details from multiple sources and combining them into a correct answer under time pressure.

This page explains what the test is assessing, the types of information you’ll be working with, common mistakes candidates make, and includes a short walkthrough so you can recognise the layout and question style before test day.

System Logic Test Format & Conditions

The System Logic Test (SLT) runs for around 36 minutes including instructions and is built around a series of short, repeatable problem-solving questions.

For each question, you’re working inside a menu-style information system made up of multiple folders/tabs that describe how a particular system works. The key constraint is that you can normally only have two information pages open at the same time, so you’re forced to work efficiently—open the right sources, extract what matters, then switch when you need the next piece.

The information you use to answer questions is presented in mixed formats, such as:

  • tables (e.g., capacities, rates, costs, thresholds)

  • graphs/diagrams (relationships between components, flows, layouts)

  • equations and factual statements (rules, constraints, conditions that drive the logic)

Your job is to collate the relevant details from different parts of the system, make a logical connection between them, and sometimes pair that with basic mental arithmetic to reach the correct multiple-choice answer. The test isn’t about reading everything. Instead, it rewards question-led searching, fast filtering, and joining the dots without getting lost in irrelevant tabs.

What Candidates Highlight After Taking CBAT

Based on feedback from candidates who passed CBAT, the most common challenges in SLT came from:

  • Not remembering to utilise both screens, ultimately wasting time

  • Not reading the questions properly

System Logic Test FAQ

How do I prepare for SLT? The System Logic Test is yet again another test which is specialised and therefore difficult to directly train for. with that being said, the test primarily focuses on verbal reasoning, therefore this type of practice will put you in good stead for the test.
