CBAT Rapid Tracking Test: What to Expect & How to Prepare

The CBAT Rapid Tracking Test (RTT) assesses your ability to track and target objects accurately using hand–eye coordination. You’ll control a joystick to keep moving and stationary targets aligned while your own viewpoint is also moving, and you will need to anticipate the path of targets that briefly disappear from view.

This page explains how the test works and what you’ll be required to do during the tracking tasks. As this is a simple test without any technicalities, this page is brief.

Angles, Bearings and Degrees Format & Conditions

You have 15 minutes for this test, whereby you will simply be tracking targets.

Within the scene you are in a helicopter which is travelling at speed. You will be advised to search for targets within your crosshairs before ensuring that the target then remains within the crosshairs for as long as is required. At times, targets such as cars or jets will travel behind objects, therefore you must also anticipate where they will become visible.

What Candidates Highlight After Taking CBAT

Based on feedback from candidates who passed CBAT, Rapid Tracking was one of the easier and more enjoyable tests of the day. There are no common technical difficulties or tips for this section as it relies purely on your hand-eye coordination therefore look forward to it.
